Description
December 1988 build date. Cosworth cast head.
Very rare car as they switched to Mercedes cast heads shortly afterwards.
Complete underside and mechanical restoration.
Rebuilt engine and transmission, diff and all new suspension, brake and running gear.
You are looking at my Mercedes Benz 2. 5 16v Manual.
This is a 19th December 1988 build. Just before the factory shut down for Christmas period.
It is also one of the very early more desirable Mercedes with the cosworth cast cylinder head and marked as such.
After this. Mercedes cast their own cylinder heads to bring everything in house for production.
Astral Silver.
Service history with all invoices etc including a full body repaint before my ownership etc.
Hpi clear.
I have spent over £27, 000 + having this car restored.
Please see the level of detail I have gone to for this car.
Engine is currently having a full rebuild with all new forged pistons etc.
Vapour blasted block, head, valve covers, intake and exhaust etc
Last set of valve stem seals for this car in the world for this build. That alone took me two years to find them!!
Mercedes no longer have these so this car has the last set.
New timing chain and all associated components.
New valve train gear.
New Mercedes manifold pipe.
The list goes on and on.
Car had 132, 000 on the clock before I started the restoration process.
Rebuilt gearbox. Original gearbox included so the car is matching numbers and factory orginal.
Full underside Raptor/ Polyurethane lined for corrosion protection and road debris resistance.
Full underside restoration includes the following:
Poly bushed rear diff and subframe.
New suspension arms and bushes for the rear multi link suspension.
New Brake discs,
New calipers,
New hubs,
New hoses and brake lines.
New Sachs springs
Sachs dampers.
All new nuts and bolts throughout the underside.
New tyres all round.
New number plates front and rear.
Car has the factory Amber indicators fitted now.
I am sure I have missed alot of things that have been replaced but everything has been done as there is no point otherwise.
The car will be ready Januray 2026 as the engine is about to be reassembled.
If you are interested.
Please feel free to contact myself and I will be happy to answer any questions you have in the meantime.
If you wish to see the car at the workshop facility to ask the company doing the work. They are located in Coventry.
Asking price £35, 000 ono when it is done and signed off as completed, road tested etc.
Car will be MOT'd and detailed for new owner for peace of mind.
The interior pictures and engine bay are prior to the restoration and not the best. As you can you can see.
No peeling door cards etc or cracked dash as they normally have.
This is half the price of an E30 M3 which it competed against in the DTM and won.
These cars are super rare now as there are not many on the roads.
The ones that are are rust buckets underneath or in need of major restoration work and alot of components are no longer available from Mercedes so if people are planning to restore them in the future. They will be in for a very hard time doing so.
