We are pleased to present this Mercedes‑Benz 250 SL “Pagode” from June 1967, delivered in cabriolet configuration with a removable hard top, in an exterior colour combination of Blue 335 H and Bordeaux interior.
We have a complete history since 1968, confirming that this Pagode has only had three Lyon-based owners.
One of them cared for it meticulously for almost forty-eight years, from 1970 to 2018, before it joined its current owner.
The 250 SL model, produced between late 1966 and early 1968, is distinguished by its 2. 5-litre inline-six developing 150 hp, as well as the introduction of disc brakes on the rear wheels and increased torque, giving it a smoother ride while preserving the handling qualities of the Pagoda lineage.
A notable feature of our model is that it was delivered new with the valuable 5-speed mechanical ZF gearbox (factory option code 232); according to the factory, less than 5% of production were equipped with it due to the significant extra cost, which provides a notable level of driving pleasure.
Its coachwork has been recently repainted and sports Blue 335 H, harmoniously paired with the Bordeaux interior: an elegant contrast that highlights the line designed by Paul Bracq, characterised by its concave-section roof (hence the nickname “Pagode”) and its balanced proportions.
Inside, largely original, the Mercedes heritage is tangible: Bordeaux leather upholstery, wood trim on the dashboard and central console, a refined cockpit blending functional simplicity with noble materials.
We have its hard top, colour-matching the bodywork, and also the rollover system with a new black alpaca hood.
The vehicle has always been meticulously maintained, with recent work including: rear axle differential service, gearbox, clutch, steering unit, front suspension, the entire braking system, and both front and rear dampers.
