Description

Please read description carefully, this car is being sold as spares repairs and is currently SORNED off the road with no MOT. The V5C is registered to me. The engine or engine internals need replaced. Appears to have crank main bearing failure. The engine will still start and run but the noise which appears to be the crank bearings can be heard knocking. There is also some slight oil leak underneath but I don’t believe this was the result of the failure.

The vehicle history detailed below I obtained from the previous owner, I was given previous paperwork for the car.

The picture I have uploaded was of the advert when I purchased it last year, the car no longer has a convertible hood, but the hood frame is still fitted and I currently have the car under covers and dry, I will add updated pictures asap. The car body has not changed in any way since that picture.

I am reluctantly selling this VW Beetle, I bought it last year with the intention of restoring it which at the time I believed would not have been a big job considering it has less than approximately 20, 000 (actually only around 17, 000 miles from new) it was under sealed when imported and had virtually no rust, it has some very small signs of minor surface rust in places but appears to be only cosmetic, the floors and the body underneath appear to be very solid. The paintwork overall is still very good.

When I bought it last year I was aware it had some concerning engine noises which the previous owner didn’t know what it was. I believed it may have been the valve rockers needing adjusted which I had done but on closer inspection it appears that the main bearings have failed unfortunately. There is a considerable knocking and rumbling, as such I have decided this is not the project for me.

The convertible hood in the main advert picture was damaged and beyond repair, I removed this hood from the vehicle with the intention of sourcing another hood however to date I have not sourced another, this is reflected in the price.

It is the Classic shape VW Beetle year 2004, built in Mexico with a 1. 6 injection Air Cooled engine. It was imported by Beetles UK and registered in 2004 and the convertible conversion carried out by a reputable company called Danbury in the UK to a high standard with all structural reinforcement to a high standard. I believe it was built in Mexico around the end of 2001.

If you do some research you will find that these Mexican built beetles are becoming highly sought after and with the 1. 6 injection engine running smoothly it would be a great modern classic which would be practical to use.

Any enquiries regarding viewing would preferably be arranged via phone call.

Thank youThe car would be an ideal beetle project for someone who can repair the engine easily.

With the car only having approximately 20000 miles from new the bodywork is in great condition and would only require some tidying up however no welding required whatsoever.

I would recommend contacting me and viewing the car before making any offer. It really is a one of a kind low mileage Mexican built VW Beetle.
