15 Mar 26- no activity due to an emergency task on a Jaguar Mark 2!
27 Feb 26- just got to fit rubber floor covering to second row seats .
23 Jan 26- wheel arch baffles, floor trim bars, rear-view mirror, gear lever gaiter, door seals. refit rear seats. tyre valve changed - doesn't leak now, but a new set of tyres would be nice. I will leave choice of tyres and seats to the purchaser as these can be a matter for taste or opinion. Front apron to fit but not sure whether or not to do this. Pic- Bill and Mark.
09 Dec 25- more photos and have lost camera.
05 Dec 25- headlining and trim- starting to tidy up… the big gap since July entry is due to the website not allowing any editing- so they have suggested that I start again-
25 jul 25-drove to chip shop . Gear box works (as bad as any S3 gearbox) but a rear brake cylinder piston stuck- replaced it- again! Didn’t use a blue box one.
22 Jul 25: losing use of right hand again- damn damn damn!
20 Jul 25- gearbox installed- awaiting road test before we do any more. the damage to the seat box is depressing. and last week I broke my big toe.....
03 Jul 25 - the gearbox has been rebuilt and fitted to vehicle. awaiting confirmation of function.
23 Apr 25- gearbox is still in pieces on the bench and i am now able to use my hand a little.
24 Apr25-
The gearbox has developed a fault. On removal it looks like it has been incorrectly rebuilt and has need of a complete overhaul. This is bitterly disappointing as we were on the way to the chip shop when it was noticed.... on the bench at present and has been stripped down. I go into hospital tomorrow 25th for more surgery- so no change in present situation for a month or six weeks......
stop press: new thumb fitted - accidentally broken- more surgery- JUST MY LUCK!
early January 2025 for new thumb op.. Stop press- surgery cancelled as too poorly to do it. 10 weeks or treatment and try again in april....... Damn!
2024- Now waiting for back surgery before i can get a new thumb- so very little progress other than clutch master and slave cylinder. oh, that might be the wrong thing to say nowadays- apologies if you are offended.......
2024- I now need 2 new thumbs and one knee along with back surgery-any reasonable offer considered. Oh and the Fekkin squirrels have attacked the wiring so I have another job!
Having a new thumb fitted in MAY 24- so slow progress comes to a halt for 6 weeks........
We have Spent Over £8k on the project- (obviously not a penny for my labour) but will consider selling the vehicle as incomplete project.
we are building up the doors now. One door lock has taken to hiding much to our amusement.....
left side now has glass fitted including some New, yes new , rear area glass as original was damaged.. stupidly expensive.....,
the lad didn't turn up and the panel he sprayed yesterday has run,,,,,,,
All wiring is now complete- I have pushed the instrument panel into place. co-restorer Bill hid until that was done as it was rather stressful.
The new doors are fitted but the fit is , er interesting. My friend was senior engineer at land rover and MG, cries out "it's a Land Rover" every time i cry out in anguish when something doesn't fit... And he designed them.....
With the spring sunshine a bit more has been done and all glass apart from the 2 alpine lights has been fitted- I'm awaiting a quote from local auto windscreen people to fit it. We've got the rubbers but the glass will not go in. Bill broke a personal best for swearing at the rubber on friday........ Front vent panels have been sand blasted and the first one is fitted along with the new rubbers.
Surgery at end of April so after that nothing will happen- I wonder if we can get it ready... I've just removed Phoenix ( for that is his name) from fitting nuts and washers to the underside of the second row seat brackets. It is past 6pm , which is cider o' clock! I can do nothing to help; I think my wrist broke again this afternoon.
Hallo, this land rover is currently under restoration with a view to completion some time in 2025- if i can keep out of hospital...... expressions of interest are invited .
At present it has a Perkins Engine 4203 which is a period modification but it can also be supplied with a Land Rover 200 tdi for a small charge.
I am not a motor trader, just an old vehicle enthusiast who likes spending time in his shed hiding from his wife.......
We have spent weeks repairing the chassis- why not a new chassis you ask. Well I like to restore where possible- a bit like my house- I would not demolish and build a new house- it wouldn't be right.

The bulkhead has almost been completely rebuilt as it was in very poor
condition but our engineer is a very competent welder, So we have footwells, A posts, vent panels that are new. Attached to this are new galvanised sills, B posts and C posts. the floors are being replaced and strengthened to take rear seat belt mountings. But there is much, much more to do.
