We were delighted to be asked to sell this lovely Rover 416, with only 57, 000 miles from new. From 1998 until 2024 it was owned by an elderly gentleman, who stored it in an underground car park, which has preserved its bodywork and underside superbly. Upon giving up driving, he offered the car to a friend, who had intended to keep it as an investment. Due to ULEZ restrictions in his local area, it was not viable to use the car regularly and he therefore passed it to us to sell on his behalf. The car is regularly admired and has attracted more attention than possibly any other classic car that has passed through our hands, perhaps due to the fact that it is a relatively unexceptional vehicle that is in almost exceptional condition! Original features include Rover headlamp covers and Rover front wind deflectors, all of which we feel are signs of a fastidious previous owner; it even has matching Rover main dealer number plates front and rear! The SLi specification was mid-range in 1993, but still offers a good level of equipment, especially when compared to other vehicles of this vintage. Main highlights include power steering, electric front windows, central locking, tilt/ slide glass sunroof, wood trim and radio cassette. Having sold Rovers of this vintage when they were relatively new, we were only too pleased to get involved with selling it, especially when we heard the car had a Honda engine! It really is a rare survivor and, whilst not perfect, is in superb original condition for its age and drives well. We have deliberately gone no further than cleaning it, preferring to leave the decision regarding whether to further improve it or just enjoy it as it is to its next owner. There are a few minor dents, chips and scratches and the rear bumper would benefit from repainting. The interior is excellent, and the headlining is completely intact. We have carried out some minor recommissioning to the car, including an oil and filter change, replacing the battery, air filter and wiper blades. It has just passed an MOT with no advisories; even the emissions test was passed on the first attempt. We have the original book pack but sadly the only service records are from many years ago. We are assured that the car was regularly serviced, though. Viewing of this rarely available vehicle is highly recommended.
