Description
1994 Ducati 916 strada (L reg)
One of the earliest 916’s available. Try finding one as early as this.
If reading this then you know the deal about these early varese bikes so I won’t labour the history.
Don’t be fooled by the ‘early’ 916’s you see advertised with vin numbers in the thousands and an elephant on the fuel tank. This is the real deal. If you’ve been looking for one of the very very earliest 916’s, then here it is.
Ducati confirmation of matching engine and chassis number and a varese bike.
I will try to include as much as I can about this one of the very first batch of 916’s but might well have missed stuff out.
Just had…belts, battery, oil, filter, fork seals, brake seals and pads, fuel pump rebuild, Cush drives. Bike is fully serviceable, starts on the button, and runs perfectly. Exceptionally original.
Will come with a fresh, advisory free MOT
Last digits of Vin no. 0003**
Engine…0002**
Original paint ( first bikes from varese were a different shade of red to later production bikes!)
Never restored
Factory confirm Matching engine and chassis numbers
As an example of how early this is and how Ducati raided the parts bin when they built the first ones in varese…. Head, timing belt covers and generator covers all stamped ‘93
Clutch housing ‘92!
Other early things to note …
Black sprocket housing
Blue oil cooler
Curved letters under indicator/ panel lights (very early and rarely seen)
Obviously cagiva stamped screen and tank filler
Endless cagiva logos all over bike, must be hundreds
Cagiva made standard exhaust system as added to the earliest bikes…notice the rivets on the exhaust can sides not on the end pipe cone which is smooth.. again hardly ever seen
Original showa rear shock as fitted to first bikes
Obviously riveted lower fairings
Zero corrosion anywhere…tank is like new inside
Original crd key plus spare
Lots of paperwork and documents
Original early ecu
