A few words on the model’s history
The Porsche 911 SC Targa occupies a unique place in the history of the legendary 911 and marks a real turning point for the model. Produced from 1978 to 1983, in a period when Porsche was consolidating its status as a manufacturer of exceptional sports cars, the 911 SC (Super Carrera) quickly became a symbol of balance between performance, reliability and driving pleasure.
Originally conceived, in Dr. Ernst Fuhrman’s plans, as the last of the 911s (to make way for the 928 and 924 with water-cooled front engines), the SC was launched with a “small” 3. 0 L less powerful than the Carrera RS of 1974 (180 hp vs. 200 hp).
It would take the premature departure of Dr. Fuhrman in 1980 to really enable Ferry Porsche to renew the 911 and implement major evolutions, notably taking the 3. 0 L from the Super Carrera to 204 hp.

The Targa version of this 911 is distinguished by its partially retractable roof, combining the pleasure of an open-body with the structural rigidity of a fixed rear roof — an ingenious solution that at the time provided an elegant and safe alternative to traditional cabriolets. The Targa design is instantly recognisable thanks to its signature roll bar, which has become an iconic element of the 911 style.

The 911 SC Targa is now a collector’s item, highly sought after by classical Porsche enthusiasts and cars with character.
