Description
Three owners from new, including me, 37k genuine miles, fresh MoT. Very good all-round condition and drives very well. It was owned for many years by an Austin Rover mechanic, who had a bare metal repaint carried out by the dealer he worked for in 1988. There are pictures and an invoice for this in the history.
The car is structurally excellent - the original sills, wings and subframes are all in good order. The 1. 0 A Series engine is smooth and eager (for a small car) and there are no synchromesh issues with the gearbox.
This Elf rides better than many classic Minis because it has Hydrolastic suspension, which absorbs bumps far more effectively.
Work under my ownership includes renewal of the rear brake cylinders, the three rear flexible brake pipes, the clutch master and slave cylinder, the wiper blades and heater valve tap. The oil, oil filter and brake fluid have also been changed recently.
Besides a fairly detailed history file there is a factory workshop manual, the driver's handbook and the original bagged toolkit with the car. The history includes the original green logbook issued when the car was new, a brochure and multiple MoTs that bear out the mileage, as do several SORN records and a letter from the last owner.
This rather charming Elf is unexpectedly for sale because the opportunity to buy an exceptional MG arose a few months after I bought it. I have too many cars - something has to go.
