This 1998‑registered Mitsubishi Colt 1. 6 GLX Auto (CJ), finished in Satellite Silver (A69) with its period blue/ grey cloth trim, is one of the most charming and original examples of the model now left on UK roads. Now past its 28th birthday, it remains in remarkable, time‑warp condition — a genuine opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of Japanese 90s classics.
Supplied new by Motorworld Mitsubishi (Dealer 609), Oxford, the Colt was first purchased by a lady who was both a loyal customer and a passionate Mitsubishi enthusiast. At the point of order, she requested a dealer‑fitted second front fog lamp, preferring the balanced look over the standard single‑lamp arrangement — a lovely personal touch that adds to the car’s story. She also specified factory‑fitted body rub mouldings, a practical and period‑correct option that remains in superb condition today. Motorworld maintained the car throughout her ownership until she part‑exchanged it in early 2005.
Recognising its unusually clean condition and originality, a member of the Motorworld team purchased the car immediately as a second vehicle for himself and his wife. His care over the following years is evident everywhere you look.
Bodywork & Originality
When viewing the bodywork, it is genuinely hard to believe how original this Colt remains. The wheel arches are like new, with all factory pressings still crisp and intact — a rare find today on any 90s Japanese hatchback. The underside is equally impressive: chassis legs and floorpan present astonishingly well, far exceeding expectations for a car of this age.
It still wears its original dealer plates, tax disc holder, and window stickers, all of which add to its authenticity and collector appeal.
