The vehicle is located in Stamford, Lincolnshire, and I am happy to assist with worldwide shipping or covered transport within the UK. Part exchanges of any age or value can be discussed. The donor SLK was imported from Germany and registered in the UK in December 2025, retaining its original identity and chassis numbers, and benefits from a current MOT.
I’ve had the pleasure of being closely involved with two stunning Gullwing recreations, one of which left me to join a collection that includes a genuine Gullwing — acquired with the intention of being driven and enjoyed more widely.
Finished to an exceptionally high standard, the attention to detail sets this car well apart from any homage. A significant number of original components have been used to achieve an impressive level of authenticity, including all original glass, along with the correct bumpers, lights, grille, mirrors, dials and steering wheel, to name just a few. The roof mechanism has been carefully replicated and operates beautifully, fitted with an extremely high-quality mohair soft top in keeping with the period look and feel.
The transformation from modern roadster to classic icon took over two years to complete and represents the second homage created by a family of highly skilled mechanical engineers.
Finished in a period correct Silver Grey Metallic, it is a warmer shade than a harsh and highly metallic modern colour. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in supple, beautifully crafted ‘Dunkelrot’ rich Bordeaux red leather. The cabin is a real highlight, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and styled to closely echo the original 300 SL Roadster.
This authenticity is enhanced through plentiful use of original interior parts such as the steering wheel, gear knob and VDO instrument cluster with the tacho, speedo and fuel gauges adapted to function seamlessly with modern electrics. The air-conditioning and heating controls are discreetly integrated and concealed behind a leather-trimmed panel to preserve the period aesthetic. Please note that I am awaiting a transmission tunnel cover panel to sit behind the HVAC controls and a leather handbrake gaiter.
By retaining the proven SLK 320 running gear, the car benefits from modern refinement, reliability and usability while preserving the analogue charm of a 1950s sports car. Features such as air conditioning and power steering make it vastly more enjoyable and practical to drive in today’s conditions.
Up-to-date safety systems including power steering, traction control, anti-lock braking and electronic stability control are all retained, allowing you to make the most of the smooth and characterful 3. 2-litre V6 engine. Producing approximately 218 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, it drives the rear wheels through a refined 5G-Tronic 5-speed automatic gearbox, delivering effortless performance and relaxed cruising ability.
