The Model 8 was designed as a stylish, badge-engineered twin to the Matchless G5, intended as a more substantial "lightweight" commuter. Its unique features, such as the butterfly valve springs and integrated oil tank casting, reflect a bold period of British engineering at Associated Motorcycle Company (AMC).
It is registered with a V5c in my name. I have a nos engine gasket set which came with it when my husband bought it in 2018. According to invoices and a note from a previous owner the bottom end of the bike was completely rebuilt in 2011, with a replacement crankshaft, mains, camshaft bearings and a refurbished oil pump. The barrel base has no gasket as it was honed dead flat. It also had a new ignition switch, swinging arm cotter and seat recovered.
