Description
A genuinely rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest remaining MG TF 1. 8s in existence. Registered in 2005, this is among the very last TFs produced before the closure of MG Rover - a highly collectible piece of British motoring history.
Purchased from Devon, where the car had only done a few thousand miles in over a decade, it has had three owners from new. Finished in striking British Racing Green with a tan and black leather interior, the car presents in truly wonderful condition throughout. Paintwork retains a deep, glossy finish; the tan leather cabin, door cards and carpets are remarkably well-preserved for their age and the black soft top is in good order, with speakers in the door and behind the headrests.
Mechanically, this car has been comprehensively recommissioned. In December 2024, Classic Car Mechanic (Liphook) carried out a complete engine rebuild: new pistons and liners, big end and main bearings, thrust washers, uprated head gasket set, water pump, cambelt kit, thermostat and housing, ignition coils, leads and plugs - fully documented on invoice. A new alternator and battery were fitted in January 2025. MOT passed February 2026.
With just 20, 000 miles from new and a freshly rebuilt engine, this TF has been cherished throughout. A battery isolator kill switch is fitted, a battery conditioner has been kept connected during storage, a spare wheel is present in the front compartment, and an uprated Kenwood head unit has been fitted.
The car comes with full service history, MOT certificates, and all recent invoices - all documentation available for inspection.

Battery isolator kill switch fittedMy Dad had an MG Midget when he was younger, and when I walked past an MG showroom window in Green Park, I started to search for my own. At the time I was looking for something fun and characterful to replace my non-ULEZ compliant vehicle, and this completely transformed what could have been a fairly dull switch into something genuinely exciting.
It absolutely did the job, and I’ve loved every minute of owning it. I searched high and low for the perfect one, and eventually found it in Devon. I drove 4 hours to go and test drive it, immediately fell in love with it, and drove it back home.
I bought the car at around 6, 000 miles and since then it has taken me everywhere, from Cornwall all the way up to Scotland and its Isles, and pretty much everywhere in between. It’s been a fantastic companion on long road trips as well as everyday drives, and with the roof down it's an unbeatable experience.
The colour combination was a huge part of why I chose this car, the British Racing Green paired with the tan interior is just timeless, and the ‘wood’ detailing adds a really charming, classic touch - as well as the great badges on either side. It’s properly fun to drive, gets a surprising amount of compliments, the engine sounds brilliant, and the CD player is a nostalgic throwback I’ll miss.
It’s been rebuilt at vast expense, but due to needing something bigger, I'm reluctantly having to sell. Overall this car has been a joy to own. It’s ULEZ compliant, stylish, fun, and full of character, and I’m confident the next owner will fall for it just as quickly as I did.
