Description
The Maserati 228 is the luxurious and clearly rarer large sibling of the well-known Biturbo models. Designed as a high-quality Grand Tourismo coupé, it is longer, wider, more comfortable and considerably more expensive in its day (new price 1988: DM 115, 000). With an official 0–100 km/ h time of 5. 2 seconds, it combines confident performance with high travel comfort.
With only 459 built, the 228 is among the rarest derivatives of the Biturbo range. Internationally, only one other example is currently offered – at a noticeably higher price.
The vehicle was regularly driven and used on long trips – precisely for which this model was designed. In the winter months it was always kept dry and warm. Care and maintenance were always taken seriously and carried out consistently.

Engine overhaul (2022)
The engine was completely rebuilt, notably renewed:
• Timing belt and ancillary belts
• Camshafts
• Hoses
• Braking system all round
• Water pump
• Radiator
• Clutch complete
Investment: approx. €11, 000 (receipts available).
Additionally, a Patriot alarm system was retrofitted.
Notable feature of Swedish models:
Maserati compensated the catalytic converter power loss with a tuned engine management – as a result, this 228 delivers the full 250 PS, while other cat models only have 224 PS.
