Description
The Maserati 125 Turismo Veloce (often referred to as the T. V. 125/ T2 or 125 T2 Turismo Veloce) is a rare and fascinating classic motorcycle from the Italian marque Maserati — yes, the same trident brand famous for its luxury cars!
Maserati ventured into motorcycle production briefly from the late 1940s to 1960 (with the main 125cc models appearing in the mid-1950s after acquiring Italmoto in 1953). These were lightweight two-stroke machines (known as “motoleggera”), and the Turismo Veloce was the sportier, higher-performance variant of their 125cc lineup, designed with road racing in mind.
Engine: 125cc single-cylinder two-stroke
• Power: Around 6 hp (higher tune than the base 125 models’ ~4. 8 hp)
• Transmission: 4-speed gearbox (a key upgrade, though the gears were somewhat fragile due to the compact design)
• Features: Sporting setup with larger front brake hub in some variants, classic telescopic forks, and elegant Italian styling
• Production era: Primarily 1954–1956 for the Turismo Veloce variants
These bikes are highly collectible today due to their rarity — Maserati’s motorcycle era was short-lived, overshadowed by bigger names like MV Agusta and Benelli. Restored examples often appear at auctions and have fetched strong prices in recent years.
