Description
First & foremost the vehicle for sale here is NOT a van, nor has it been converted from a van. It is one of an extremely rare batch of pick-up trucks built by Citroen (all r. h. drive) and introduced very sparingly (one example to each franchised dealer) on the UK market during 1990. This marketing test failed because these prototypes never became a production run, so the result was a very limited output.
The vehicle is based on the ultra successful C15 van floorpan and cab and the pickup rear constructed by Teilhol in a plastic fibreglass-like material the same as that used by Teilhol for the bodywork of the Romahome series of mini campervans.
The pickups all employ the venerable, ultra reliable XUD 1. 7 litre
non-turbo diesel engine.
This particular example has had only 2 owners from new. The first was a thatcher who used it for carrying reeds and the second, myself, used it for variou light domestic duties. It has had some long periods of inactivity but has always been stored under cover during those times. It was last used regularly 6 years ago, when just prior to Covid it was driven to Northern Italy and back to collect a motorcycle. The mileage is therefore low and the engine started first turn recently after a rest of about 5 years.
It will now need some remedial work on the body and underside to pass the MOT test. The braking system has become totally inoperative during its lay-up due to loss of hydraulic fluid.
It is fitted with a towbar.
The seat material is original and undamaged but a little tired along its seams. There are no signs of cigarette burns anywhere.
Included in the sale is a quantity of spare parts, new and s/ hand,
which have been accumulated by the present owner for possible future use. It is a practical and usefully sized vehicle which, when restored to regular working condition will be extremely rare and have real collectible value. I have used it for a few trips to France where
it draws a great deal of interest amongst the 'natives' !
Don't hesitate to contact me for further details or photos if needed.
