Description
Jowett Javelin 1952 Deluxe, four door saloon. By Jowett Cars Ltd, Bradford, West Yorkshire. Made from 1947 until 1953. Streamlined radical design for that era, capable of around 80mph.
1500cc flat four boxer engine, overhead valve 50 horsepower, with twin carbs. Water cooled with radiator behind the engine. Four speed column change gearbox, rear wheel drive.
Spacious interior and large boot. Front grill completely removable for engine maintenance. Original registration and number plates. Factory maroon colour, some of which looks original, but shows blemishes in places on close inspection. Still has working semaphore indicators. Engine has good oil pressure and compression. It runs ok but could do with a tune up.
This deluxe version has the original beige Connolly leather upholstery. It has been repaired in places and has some cracking. It needs feeding with leather softener to prevent further cracking. Has the wooden dashboard not steel, and a heater. A picnic table for the rear passengers, stowed on the rear parcel shelf until required. The chrome is in good condition but the rear bumper has slight pitting. The cross ply tyres have plenty of tread but are quite old. There is a scratch on the windscreen that may polish out with jeweller’s rouge. It needs to be collected on a trailer, because the brakes work but need further attention. An original maintenance manual and the history file is included in the sale. The V5C is in my name. Contact me to arrange a viewing in Poole Dorset,
