1954 Austin Champ - Military version with Snorkel
Because of extensive modifications over the years and 70 years of regular use, repairs and restorations, the Champ is not in concourse original condition, but it is in full running order as a 2 seater pick-up.
Significant changes include new floors, roll-over bar with 3 point seat belts, bespoke canvas hood, Land Rover bumpers, and new clutch and replaced gearbox. The engine 53318 is original and runs well. It has 5 as new mud-plugger tyres. Austin Champ vehicle manufactured 11/ 01/ 1954 with Military reg number 51BE78.
Disposed 10/ 09/ 1965 by BAOR Germany.
Bought in 1968 by a belgian oil refinery (with 3 other Champs) and converted to fire tenders, with foam tanks and 3 inch monitors.
Acquired by current owner in 1997 and brought back to UK.
Restored to useable road vehicle and registered as a historic vehicle 01/ 02/ 2021.
