Description
Bought this in February last year as a "pillion" bike and found I couldn't get on with the riding position so stripped it naked. Runs well and sounds great - the Hinckley 900 triple is a treat, fast and torquey with good brakes and suspension.
All the original panels, brackets, clip-ons and oil cooler are included. I've fitted a CRK 28mm bar conversion and LSL bars to give an upright riding position with new stainless hydraulic lines and a Trident throttle cable to suit. Removing the fairing also necessitated a new headlamp (LED fitted) and brackets and at the same time swapped the instruments for a set from a Trophy. The nice white faced Triumph clocks work perfectly but because they are designed to be behind the fairing, all the wiring is exposed where the Trophy type are enclosed. I've included a photo with its clothes on as it was when I bought it - a day in the shed would have it looking like that again.
The logbook indicates the bike was "registered/ used overseas" and considering all the stickers/ notices on it are in French, I would assume France!
Overall the Daytona is in good order but with dents, scratches etc as you would expect on a thirty year old bike. The tyres are good front and rear and had a new rear disc and pads fitted last year. The alloy aftermarket silencer are DOT stamped and sound good without being loud. I replaced the fuel tap with a genuine Triumph unit and a Sprint Manufacturing alloy knob (the plastic ones break).
Only trouble it has given me was the ignition pick-up failing when it got hot - easily fixed with a new pick-up and gasket.
MOT expires March 27Great bike to ride and ready to go as is, put back to standard or just re-fit the clip-ons for that Speed Triple/ cafe racer look! A lot of bike for reasonable money.
