Description
We are delighted to off this Alfa Romeo 101 Giulia Sprint which was acquired by the late Irish Rallysport legend Dermot Carnegie circa. 2008 and immediately handed over to Kevin Savage Motorsport who completely rebuilt the car as a classic rally car, suitable for FIVA registration and eligible for all classic rally events.
The current specification of the car is as follows:-
1600cc rally spec. engine (high compression pistons, rally cams, twin 40 Dellorto carburettors, competition exhaust system, oil cooler with spin on oil filter, electric cooling fan, electronic ignition with twin coils, K&N air filters etc.), producing 138 Bhp with Dyno printout, full Safety Devices roll cage, twin fuel tanks, twin sealed rally batteries with changeover switch, uprated rally suspension with Koni shock absorbers, large front anti-roll bar, front brake discs with uprated brake pads, hydraulic handbrake with floor mounted activation switchable from cable, uprated headlights and auxiliary Cibie driving lights, heated front windscreen, uprated cabin heater, additional gauges and full rally timing equipment, 5 alloys fitted with Avon CRZZ historic tyres, 5 additional wheels fitted with Yokohama gravel tyres.
In the hands of Dermot, the car scored many great results including winning the 2010 Rally of the Tests and the 2011 Winter Challenge.
In 2013 the Alfa was acquired by another well known rally driver, John Abel, who carried on the cars success with another Rally of the Tests win in 2017.
The car was purchased by the current owner in 2019 and has continued to be competitive with Class wins and Overall placings in several HERO rally events, including the Three Castles Rally.
Throughout 416 YUV's competitive life it has been meticulously maintained with no expense spared. A fully documented history is available from 2008 onwards showing a huge amount spent including engine rebuilds, gearbox rebuilds, clutch, suspension, brakes and a full respray.
A full service (incl. engine, gearbox and diff oils), complete new uprated clutch and lightweight flywheel fitted, new front and rear main oil seals fitted, this work was carried out in August 2025 by Peter Smart Classic Alfas Ltd and the car has not been used since.
The car currently has an MOT which is due to expire in July 2026.
416 YUV has not been rallied since June 2023 when it was placed 1st in Class and 3rd overall out of 73 competitors on the Three Castles Trial. Also winning the Concours D'Elegance on the rally!
