Description
This series 2 was built in January 1960 for the Home Market. It was dispatched to R. Humm & Co., who were at that time, a Land Rover dealer based in Plymouth.
The Landy was Originally Bronze Green and has the registration mark XYJ 575. The car has been off the road for some years; in 2011, the former owner bought it as a restoration project and undertook some work to bring it back on the road, but did not have time to complete it.
I purchased the car in 2024, and since then, my son and I have brought it to road-ready condition as it has recently been given a new lease of life with a full nut-and-bolt rebuild.
The car is presented in Land Rover light grey with a sun-bleached tan roof, giving it a truly great, authentic look.
The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, and it will require running in. The original chassis has been used and well-repaired where required, and then fully galvanised. Many parts have been renewed where needed, and, where possible, original parts have been restored and used. Please note that we do have the original door hinges for the car if required, as we have used the more reliable series 3 hinges as an updated addition.

The Landy has paperwork showing that it was MOT’d in May 1996 with the mileage showing at 20, 236 miles at that time, so it would suggest that the current mileage of 41, 600 is likely to be accurate. The car has had 9 owners from new, including myself.
Series Land Rovers, when restored, are a great investment if maintained and looked after. There are not many vehicles you can say will maintain or appreciate during your ownership. Not to say that you will have fun driving and at the same time create lasting memories,
