Description
Fast Road / Competition – MGA Coupe
Offered for sale is my MGA Coupe which I have owned since year 2011.
I personally have no interest in rusty cars, therefore purchased this fully restored car from another private owner from Torrance City, Los Angeles, California.
The car was totally stripped and a full body-off restoration to show standards carried out in California during his ownership. Only original parts including un-rusted panels were used and many new parts were fitted.
Then, since my own purchase the car has been converted to right hand steering using all factory original parts and further tastefully modified and maintained regardless of cost.
I have used the car sparingly, but only ever in dry weather.

Please be aware.
1/ This is not the more typical patched and prettied up car. It is structurally as good as you will ever likely find.
2/ The comprehensive restoration was carried out 20 plus years ago. The paintwork is excellent and impressive, but no longer perfect.
3/ The car is modified as detailed below, it is not matching numbers 1958 MGA.

Current specification is as follows;
MGB 5 main bearing engine, 1798cc.
Very recent cylinder head rebuild with unleaded seats, all new valves, springs, etc.
Also at that time a new AccuSpark distributor fitted with the electronic ignition module.
Five speed Nissan Datsun 260Z Gearbox.
Overdive 5th gear.
3. 9 MGB differential.
The combination of these engine, gearbox and axle ratio allows the car to travel comfortably at motorway speeds. This gearing has also proved to be surprisingly economical.
Fitted alternator, tubular manifold and large bore exhaust system, aluminium radiator, ribbed aluminium sump, solid state fuel pump, sports coil, etc etc.
Note, for comfort the exhaust is well silenced with an additional centre box which could be removed for a more sporty sounding system if required.
Mildly uprated suspensions including 450lb front springs and fitted ¾ anti-roll bar.
Slightly lowered rear suspension.
MGB front uprights and fitted slightly larger MGBV8 discs and callipers. Standard drum brakes on the rear.
Master cylinders converted to individual cylinders in favour of the original tandem cylinder.
Slightly wider 5J x 15 72 spoke wire spoke wheels.
The previous owner fitted a very nice wood-rim steering wheel and ivory faced instruments.

I have only ever used the car on the road, yet fitted with competition style bucket seats. These have now been removed and the original MGA seats reinstalled. These seats are in superb condition as are the front and rear bumpers which come with the car, but are not currently fitted. I simply prefer the look of the car with the bumpers removed. The brackets are still on the car and the bumpers quite simply may be refitted.

This car is now offered for sale at £25, 000
I would only agree with anyone who might suggest the car is a bit more expensive than other MGA Coupes on offer. And in my opinion this is quite justifiably so.
This car and in this condition and specification would cost far in excess of this asking price to replicate.
If you are interested, then I am happy to help where I can.
But please be aware, I am not a desperate seller and I am not wanting to negotiate.
If it sells, then fine.
If it doesn’t sell, then that is equally fine with me.

Car is located at my home in Chelmsford, Essex.
Thank you. Jim Lowry
