Description
Beautiful MG J2, fully restored 20 years ago - used regularly and well maintained since - now displaying a lovely patina. The original Ash frame was repaired with new sections where necessary and re-panelled in aluminium for lightness and corrosion resistance. The engine was rebuilt by Sports & Vintage Motors using a modern steel crankshaft, forged rods etc. and has proven very reliable. Breathing has been improved with slightly larger carburettors with a four branch exhaust manifold and the radiator has been re-cored. The gearbox has also had a recent overhaul. The interior was re-trimmed in red leather using an original sprung seat-back and there is a tonneau and full hood in double duck. Recently Blockley tyres are fitted to the powder coated wheels. The colour scheme has been retained as originally supplied.
This is a well sorted car which is great fun to drive and is always admired wherever it goes!Manufactured in 1933, the chassis number 2943 retains the original Bournemouth registration number and the current V5C confirms this. The car is on the Triple-M register and the bonnet hinge carries the matching number. There is a large folder of receipts etc. to go with the vehicle.
