• Most desirable V8 manual sport
• Very few on the market.
Very refined car, and one that everyone has a story about. Largely unmolested and still in great condition. This from a factory that was on top of its game and carried brand royalty. Top politicians were chauffeured around in these cars, of course the police loved driving their V8 manual ‘jam sandwiches’, as they were nicknamed.
The car runs well and the V8 pulls strongly and smoothly through all gears. The clutch works well, it drives as it should without any lurches rattles or incidents. As you'd expect it ticks over with a satisfied burble. The car is over 50 years old, so it’s not new, some aging is inevitable. .... but its still as sound as a pound and a car to be proud of. There is no significant rust to worry about.
At an NEC Classic Car Show one visitor came up to me with a smile on his face and said; “We’d didn’t half make some crackers back in them days!” and I’d not argue with that.
The car has many luxurious touches as was expected for this luxury saloon of it’s status, full Leather seats, front and back quarter lights with delightful chrome opening mechanisms. To my mind it still looks as striking a profile as when it came out, and remains a well thought out well engineered car.
Look at the photos of the bottoms of the doors, not a rust bubble in sight. To be honest I don’t think there ever have been.
Photos : The instruments show car at tick-over, with good oil pressure, positive charge going in to the battery, and temperature right on the button.
This car has been un-molested and is very original,
I've taken as many overall images as well as any detailed close ups, but no prizes for guessing what part of the car it is in every photo.
