Description
This beautifully presented Special Edition Business model is distinguished externally by its discreet boot lid spoiler, special alloys and sunshine roof.
Listed as having 6 previous owners (history file available - but hardly relevant now) prior to my purchase in January 2009 from my brother's Harrisons Garage, Totnes as an auto upgrade from a previous standard manual 528i.
Perhaps the best purchase of my life and I have never wanted to part with it - until now, when age has regrettably, caught up with me (not the car)! A joy to own and drive for 17 years and about 50, 000 miles of mostly long distance cruising with little stress on the superb straight six. It has never let me down.
Full service and MOT records. Current MOT valid to May 2027.
Fully maintained with much money spent in last few years to eliminate the usual ageing problems: rear chassis (structural) rebuild, rear brake system replaced with copper pipe, brittle plastic replaced, steering rack and pump, a/ c compressor and new battery in particular, so this is now a very sound car.
Internally, the sand/ beige leather seats and carpets look superb with little sign of wear.
Perhaps the only "History" item demanding clarification is the "yes" answer to major structural work done which refers to the recent rear chassis rebuild to eliminate corrosion at the rear mounting points, a common age related problem with these chassis' only worth carrying out if the rest of the vehicle is in good condition and the car is too good to be scrapped. This often leads to the demise of all but the highly valued M series models. I deemed the price worth paying to keep this car on the road. If this work has NOT been done on an E39 of this age - perhaps BEWARE!
If you are a fan of the E39 series BMW then this well presented and maintained straight six 2. 8iSE version is probably the most drivable, well equipped and reliable model of this modern classic that you will find. Great for motorway cruising in style!
