Description
A rare opportunity to acquire a 1963 Land Rover Series 2A that has undergone a comprehensive, professionally documented nut-and-bolt rebuild. It is finished in Land Rover Pastel Green (LRC005) — one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable heritage colours in the marque’s history, an authentic factory shade used across the Series I, II and IIA from the late 1950s and the very definition of how a classic Series Land Rover should look. It is set off by contrasting Limestone wheels and a Sand-coloured tilt, the classic period combination, over straight, immaculate bodywork. This is a no-stories, no-shortcuts restoration carried out by respected Land Rover specialist Anthony Brown (formerly of AB 4x4s Cleveland Ltd) between March 2020 and December 2022.
I bought the vehicle in October 2019 for £3, 500, sourced directly through specialist Anthony Brown, who then carried out the full rebuild. The work represents some £49, 000 of investment — and every penny is accounted for. The sale comes with all receipts and a complete photographic build history, so you can see exactly what was done and to what standard.
Ownership and history: the car has had eight previous owners across its sixty-plus-year life, but just one owner (myself) since the rebuild was completed. The last MOT was carried out on 7 December 2023; as a pre-1981 vehicle it is now MOT and road-tax exempt. Since completion it has covered just 204 miles (recorded at 53, 336 in December 2023, now reading 53, 540), so it is effectively a freshly finished restoration that has barely been run in. There is nothing in the vehicle’s history requiring further explanation — it is a straightforward, honest car with full supporting documentation.

It was stripped to the last component and rebuilt onto a new galvanised chassis by a restorer with a genuine reputation, and the full photographic record means you are buying with complete confidence rather than crossed fingers.
My favourite thing about it is the way it combines the timeless character of an early Series 2A with the peace of mind of a fresh, sorted vehicle. That heritage Pastel Green is, to my eye, the colour every Series Land Rover should wear — it has graced these vehicles since the late 1950s and looks every bit as right today; over the straight, immaculate bodywork it is genuinely head-turning in person. It is finished in the classic period combination, with contrasting Limestone wheels and a Sand-coloured tilt — a pairing that is utterly authentic to the era and works beautifully together. The three colours combine for striking effect wherever you take it, whether parked on the high street, sitting outside a country pub, or turning heads at a local classic car show or meet. The luxury seats make for a comfortable journey, while the reconditioned Bakelite banjo steering wheel is a particular highlight — it immediately catches the eye of driver and passer-by alike — and together with the new Clayton heater these touches make it a pleasure to actually use rather than just admire.
This is a genuinely turnkey example for the enthusiast who wants a documented, ready-to-enjoy classic rather than a project. It will only appreciate as a properly restored, low-mileage example. Viewing is highly recommended to appreciate the quality of the work — please get in touch with any questions, with full documentation available on request.
