For sale a 1957 model ES2, these were the last of the single downtube frames before the wideline of 59 on. The engine was totally overhauled by Mike Pemberton (of Norton's owners club fame) and now sports and aluminium barrel with bore & stroke of 87 x 100 (595 cc). The cylinder head was overhauled too and has austenitic exhaust valve & Colisbro guides, has a healthy compression. The primary drive & clutch is by Bob Newby, belt drive, through an early AMC gearbox (correct for year). It has a ultra reliable BT-H electronic magneto with Alton brushless 12v electrical system (90W). The long Roadholder forks have Commando internal damper system, and Hagon rear shocks. The wheel rims are Devon rim company stainless steel & the front brake is a Commando TLS to help things to a halt safely. On the road and regularly used but my kickstart days are nearly done, therefore I want to find a good home for her, regularly serviced by an ex aircraft engineer, no expense spared in my ownership. With an interesting history the machine was exported from new to Morocco, it even still has it's kph chronometric speedometer fitted. The bike was reimported from France in 2010, and sold to someone on the Wirral, I bought from him 10 years ago. It has an extensive history file of all the work carried out since my ownership. I still have the original iron barrel with a 40 thou o/ size piston so the engine could easily be put back to its 79 X 100 (490 cc) dimensions if required by the new owner, there is also another new chronometric mph speedo included in the sale.
