Description
Mazda MX-5 MK 1 race car
Built a few years back by Ferrari specialist and MX-5 race team SMDG performance to an incredibly high standard to compete in the highly competitive BRSCC & 750MC race series.
The chassis was stripped to a bare shell, dipped and Zinc coated. The underside and cabin were painted in silver and the body in dark blue.
The engine was fully rebuilt to comply with BRSCC and 750MC race series regulations. This includes 0. 5 oversize pistons, skimmed head with recut valves, flowed exhaust manifold, cold air intake and race exhaust (a full engine build to this spec cost ~£5000)
The car is fitted with a full roll cage, GAZ shocks, fully powder coated and pollybushed suspension arms, carbotech brake pads, Sparco racing seat, race regulation fire extinguisher.
The attention to detail and quality on this build is extremely high, it is almost to nice for racing. To build the car like this today would be ~£20, 000
The car has been used sparingly for the odd track day and never raced to my knowledge. The car was bench marked against 2 other front running cars in May and performed very well. With the right driver it would be capable of running at the front of the grid, or would make a great track day toy.
Currently stored at NHA racing in Sussex, will come on a different set of wheels to the pictures.
