Description
This Discovery is a Japanese import with just over 40, 600 miles from new. The Japanese HSE specification is equivalent to the UK ES Premium, with all the features you would expect from a top-of-the-range model.
I took my time finding this Discovery, as there are a lot of rusty examples out there. This one is in amazing condition and is considered the best colour and interior combination with no rust on either the body or chassis. When it arrived in the UK, it was professionally Waxoyled by the specialist dealer I purchased it from, helping to protect the underside from UK road conditions.
The Japanese equivalent of the MOT is called the Shaken, which is notoriously strict. Cosmetic as well as mechanical defects can result in a failure. This particular example has clearly been very well cared for by its previous owners.
The interior is in exceptional condition and has had over-mats fitted throughout its life; as a result, the carpets are virtually as new. Both sunroofs work with no leaks and the headlining is in great condition with no sagging.
There were some minor issues identified at its first UK MOT, all of which were rectified by the dealer, who also carried out a service just under 12 months ago. Since then, I have covered only approximately 1, 200 miles.
I have carried out a few upgrades during my ownership, including replacing the rear air suspension with coil springs, which is a popular and well-proven modification on these vehicles. I also had a brand-new UK-specification instrument binnacle installed so that it displays MPH rather than KPH. As a result, the first UK MOT records 62, 994 km, while the most recent MOT shows 40, 569 miles.
I also replaced the original radio with a Pioneer multimedia unit featuring DAB radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto/ Bluetooth connectivity, and a reversing camera. In addition, I had a Road Angel dash cam with front and rear cameras professionally installed.
Having owned five Land Rover Discovery’s over the years, I can confidently say this is without doubt the best one I have had. It drives beautifully and without issue. There are none of the usual "Three Amigos" warning light problems often associated with the Discovery 2. It is smooth, powerful, and pulls exceptionally well, exactly as you would expect from the 4. 0-litre V8, accompanied by a wonderful engine note.
Please note that this is a 22-year-old vehicle and, while it presents exceptionally well, there are some minor age-related marks to the paintwork. There are no dents, but there are a few small scratches, minor blemishes, and some light scuffing to the rear bumper.
All four alloy wheels were refurbished when I purchased the vehicle and remain in excellent condition. They are fitted with new tyres, which have covered only the 1, 200 miles I have driven since acquiring it.
I am very sad to let this beauty go, but I simply am not using it enough, and I have a restoration project that needs finishing. Therefore, the funds are required elsewhere.
