Ford Sierra Sapphire 4x4 Cosworth, Lhd
Not going to waffle on about homofocal headlights and the Sierra cosworths rallying pedigree, if you’re here you know what you’re looking at.
Likewise if you’re looking for an unused investment grade saph that’s only been touched by Ford mechanics and is standard then best stop here.
Bought in 2024 from the man who imported it to the uk, he owned it when he lived in Switzerland and brought it to the uk in 2018.
It was in need of a lot of service parts and love but it was completely standard bar lowering springs.
It’s a numbered run out model, 106 of 700. I removed and sold three out of the 4 things that differed it from other saphs but with good reason, air con gets in the way of the big intercooler, the Ford cd player didn’t work and the leather interior, albeit in vgc was way too uncomfortable to sit in on a journey on a hot day.
I have spent hundreds of hours and a lot of money on this saph, it’s my 7th saph cosworth and I know them inside out and as much as I love them I barely use it and want to pursue other interests.
I’ll try to remember all that’s done.
Engine, all parts/ work done has done 3000 miles, some parts a lot less as I did work over 2 winters.
Cylinder head removed, had never been off before. sent to a specialist for a cleanup skim, broken stud repair, new stem seals, guides, seats.
Bottom end untouched, cylinders still have honing marks.
Tremona garage refurbed rocker cover.
New T34 with . 48 exh housing by Vince.
Full mongoose system with 4” tailpipe.
Collins mounts.
All new genuine marelli sensors.
Marelli 3 bar map sensor.
New phase sensor, leaks, cap, group a coil and loom.
Pro alloy intercooler, radiator and turbo radiator.
Full coolant, boost, ancillary oe look roose hoses.
New pj water pump and genuine tensioner.
New starter motor.
Recent header tank.
Motorsport developments -34 actuator and 380 chip.
Burton supplied Bosch grey injectors.
Burton supplied 3. 5 bar fuel pressure regulator.
Recent belt and tensioner.
Recent auxiliary belt.
New Bosch 200 fuel pump, loom, filter, ggr fuel pipe kit, new fuel tank & strap.
Innovate efr, boost, oil temp & pressure gauges with correct oil sandwich plate for sensor.
Not been rolling roaded so boost set to 21 psi to be safe, should hold 24 and peak about 28.
Body
Some original paint, bootlid, bonnet, bumpers, skirts, grille, mirror caps have been painted to freshen the car up.
Just had a 2 year ceramic coating applied after a full detail.
Rouse copy spoiler but this has swelled up.
Ian heron rs500 splitter but this has a chip and some hairline cracks.
Has a few car park dents and n/ s arch has had work but doesn’t appear to have been welded.
Both rear outer sills have been repaired at their ends prior to my ownership, floors, sills, chassis legs are all vgc
All window rubbers are mint, rub strips perfect.
Main torch key and spare ford key, 1 key fits all locks.
Cat 1 alarm system.
Freshly powder coated original sharktooths, new Yokohama tyres all round, original spare in boot with part worn oem tyre, jack, wheel key, locking wheel key, safety triangle present.
Interior
Excellent condition space interior sourced, £500 spent fixing front seat squabs, stretching material and regluing, I used perfect genuine side bolster foams. Rear seat base has a tiny cut.
New headlining and c pillar trims.
Electric sunroof.
Rs 3 spoke wheel retrimmed and painted ebony black.
New gearknob.
Rare lhd mats and seat rail covers.
Pioneer head unit and cd multi changer. Rare “dolphins” unit.
Upgraded focal front and rear speakers, rare cosworth rear speaker pods sourced and fitted with modern speakers. Still not very loud!
Original clocks but with mph faces so they read correct for the uk.
Underside
Restored back to oe from the bumper to the rear diff x member, floor cleaned and treated then painted with the correct paints and overspray.
New bilstein b4 shocks, unknown springs.
New ggr front discs and pads, recent rear discs and pads.
I have 2 rear abs sensors to go with the car, it puts the light on when it gets over 100 on private roads.
Think that’s it, it’s had a fortune spent on it, it’s not perfect but it’s 34 years old.
No swaps or offers, I don’t care that it’s lhd and in the uk, e30 m3’s, lancia delta integrales etc are all lhd and their prices are only going 1 way in the uk.
When looking all the cars i looked at were tarted up dogs needing work and were still big money, mine is big money but it’s 99% done.
