Description

A very regretful sale of my 1984 Toyota Celica Gen 3 RA61.

History:
The vehicle was originally sold by a Toyota dealership in Chester and had been in Chester all its life prior to me! The first owner had the vehicle from 1984 to 1986. It was then bought by a lady in 1986, who owned it until 2005. She sadly passed away in 2005, at which point Toyota retook ownership. From 2005 to 2023, the vehicle sat at Toyota, untouched and unmoved, at the same dealership where it was originally sold new. Then, in 2023, the same dealership that originally sold this vehicle in 1984 sold it to me — 40 years later! It comes with the paperwork to back this up. How cool is that!

Paperwork:
This vehicle comes with its original sales receipt from 1986 and full service book. It was serviced and stamped yearly at the same Toyota dealership up until 2005. It also has a private plate that the previous owner had put on, with paperwork showing this was done in 1995. The original registration was A126 HPA. The private plate will be staying on the vehicle as it’s part of its history, and I think it would be a shame to remove it! It comes with the full V5 and now tons of new paperwork from 2023 to the present day, including a picture booklet documenting the restoration.

Engine Bay:
Due to the vehicle being parked for 18 years, the engine and bay have been rebuilt. There is literally too much to list, but right down to every bolt, everything has either been reconditioned or replaced! Another cool thing is that the vehicle originally went in for a service in 2005, so when the engine oil was drained after all those years, it was still like new! It’s running the original 2. 0L 21R carburettor engine. It sounds sweet and starts on the first click! Gaskets, seals, core plugs, cables, manual fuel pump, water pump, belts, alternator, starter motor, oil cooler — the lot has either been replaced or refurbished!

Interior:
The whole interior was very clean already and still even had that factory smell!. Windows, radio, electric sunroof, handbrake, radio aerial, lights and wipers are all fully functional. It also comes with steering wheel, handbrake, gearstick and pedal locks! On top of that, it’s fitted with a Ghost-style immobiliser, so even with the key, the vehicle cannot be started

Underbody:
Luckily, this vehicle was parked on tarmac all those years, so the rust wasn’t too bad and the amount of welding required was minimal. Welding has been carried out on the sills, underbody and front radiator support. It’s had new fuel lines, brake lines, bushes, brake discs and pads, CV boots and much more. To protect it all, the underside has been Raptor-coated and waxed! The differential oil and gearbox oil have also been flushed and replaced, along with a full brake-fluid flush.

Bodywork:
The vehicle has had a full respray, starting with a full sand-down to bare metal in certain areas, followed by epoxy primer, high-build primer and a full hand-block to give it that smooth finish ready for the base coat. All arches have been welded, along with some welding to the lower wings. I went one step further and added original Celica Supra arches, giving it that GTS look, which I believe was only available in the US — or what some people call the Mk2 Supra look! The wheels are also from the Celica Supra and have been fully refurbished to like-new condition, including genuine centre caps.

Summary:
It is MOT and TAX EXEMPT under the historic vehicle classification and is currently insured with Adrian Flux at an AGREED VALUE OF £16, 000.

It’s currently running a 20L fuel-cell tank in the boot, as at the time I wanted to get it on the road and couldn’t get the original fuel tank refurbished. The original tank will, however, be included in the sale should the new owner decide to refurbish and refit it.

Please take this into consideration if you’re intending on driving it a long distance, as it’s only a 20L tank, so you may need a jerry can or two!

I’ve used the vehicle this summer and attended a few local car shows. I’ve also had it trailered to some shows further away, as I didn’t want to risk unnecessary road damage. As you can see, it’s in pristine condition.

Sadly, the time has now come to sell it. It’s a genuine reason for sale — I own two more Celica Supras (one being a donor), so I need the funds to go towards next year’s build!

Price is fixed and, in my opinion, priced very fairly — or should I say, a bargain! For something this clean and super rare, considering the amount of work that has gone into it, I believe these cars are only going to become more desirable.

This vehicle has taken roughly three years to get back on the road. A huge amount of work has gone into so I may have missed some information. Please feel free to message me

If your bringing a trailer I have ramp extensions if it’s to low
