The bike has only done a genuine 6, 630 km (4110m) spending most of its life sat in a Swiss garage, the bike starts on the button, runs beautifully like a Swiss watch and handles like a supermoto, cornering like a dream. Out on twisty country roads this bike will keep up with pretty much anything until you hit a long straight! This is a real corner carver. It’s always been my go to bike if I want to put a huge grin on my face.
This is a 33 year old bike so it isn’t perfect but the general condition is very good as can be seen in the photos. These are quite rare now in this original condition, you can see it looks like the day they stopped riding it. The only bad point is the original graphics have been removed, but from my research they were a horrible pink, purple and blue and ruined the look of the bike, IMHO.
The bike will come with a fresh MOT.
I bought this bike back in 2019 from a regular supplier who imported bikes from Switzerland and Italy, he raced and worked on two strokes for many decades and would always go through the mechanical side of the bike and any mechanical work required was carried out. The bike was imported from Switzerland and registered with a new V5.
These bikes were a special built by Belgarda Italia, the official Yamaha suppliers/ importers in Italy, now known as Yamaha Italia, in limited numbers. When Yamaha introduced the TZR250 back in 1988 Belgarda asked if Yamaha would produce a 125 version for the Italian market but they didn’t have any plans to do that so Belgarda decided to build their own version. This is a series one pre production version of which 1000 units were built to see if they would sell, they were so popular that Yamaha then decided to build a full production version, the first of which were called the TDR125R Belgarda but they came with the aluminium frame and Brembo three spoke wheels and standard 125 engines, they then followed up with a standard production version which was available until 2002. This version was based on the DT125 with upgraded components like the Excel spoked wheels, Brembo brakes and suspension, the 3MBO tuned engine with full power from the TZR125R Belgarda, they also used number of components from the TDR250.
I’ve ridden this bike to a number of bike shows and it always gets a lot of interest and questions about what it is.
