I bought the Sprite in 1986, as a 19 year old student, but ran out of money to restore it. My dad took over the project, had it rebuilt onto a heritage shell, and kept it until 2018 when I inherited 'my car' back. It's sad to see it go but three generations of my family have had a lot of fun out of it over the years.
The car and engine are very solid, with no rust that I'm aware of, and, with a modest rebore, it's suprisingly quick! It's mostly original with some useful upgrades to the brakes, lights and ignition. It looks great and always attracts comments. There are some minor dings to one wing and the drivers door but the paintwork is generally very good. It's always been cared for and stored in a garage.
Cosmetically, there's room for some fettling, but it's a super solid base to start from and can be enjoyed from the get-go.
