Description

ASTON MARTIN DB 2/ 4 DHC 1955. One of 56 RHD made.

The price listed is best OIRO £185, 000. I believe this is realistic to reflect the fact that more fettling work is needed and maybe a future respray. But one can readily see the bodywork required.

The car has all matching numbers and original colours including new Connolly leather as per the original build sheet. The original reg. no. stays with the car.

Owned by me for 46 years. It has had approx. 11 owners. Previously owned by David Lean the film director. The car was a chassis up rebuild in the early 1990's. the engine was fully rebuilt 500 miles ago and is just run in. It has new high compression pistons, new liners, mains and big ends, head rebuilt with lead free valves and seats etc., new chains, other engine work, brakes and shoes done 9000 miles ago. Brand new regulator and recent fuel pump fitted.
I have only covered 9000 miles since early rebuild.
Extensive re-chroming but still retaining a lot of the original chrome and patina.
Leather work done over last few years. Spare 1/ 3 hide with sale.
New hood and bag 3 months ago along with refurbished frame.
The car drives well. Gear box and diff good. No real noticeable play in the steering and although heavy at rest it feels perfect when driving. Just like this GT should; and be happy to cruise all day at 4000 rpm.
The car can either have the set of chrome wheels as shown or a set of silver painted original wheels. Both sets of tyres are serviceable but old. Included set of old wheels and tyres to winter on.
The car has been rewired and only the clock does not work.
I will fit a new oil level sensor to the sump when I drain out the running in oil in the next 100 miles.
all input and output shafts have been fitted with "speedy sleeves" and new seals.

If you have got to here and are seriously looking at this car you will probably know the history of these vehicles or can easily search it.

From experience it is one of the original GT's and lives up to its reputation of easy long distance driving with its 3l engine. It holds the road well and absorbs the bumps in our country lanes.

This is probably why David Lean purchased this stylish and advanced vehicle for its day. Reportedly taking it on location for some of his films.

As said I have owned car for 46 years and purchased it as I had had DB2/ 4's before and had worked of the Engines and car mechanics previously and found the vehicles thoroughly reliable.
