Description

2001 Citroën C15D Club – MOT September 2027

After four and a half years of faithful service, it’s time to find a new home for my beautiful little C15.

It has covered a little over 75, 000 miles, which is backed up by lots of service history, and it has led a very easy life. The first owner used it to move her racing pigeons around London for the first 17 years or so. She subsequently passed away and her son inherited the van before moving it on. It has always been in private ownership, and this is reflected in its condition.

This little gem has been my daily driver and has never let me down. We’ve taken it abroad on holiday, where she received lots of admiring attention, particularly from the French Gendarmes at the port who pulled us over just to admire it. She has completed numerous tip runs and collected all manner of big, bulky purchases.

I’ve carried out all servicing and repairs myself and always keep every receipt for parts, noting the mileage and date. To give you an idea of what has been done during my ownership, I have replaced:

- Front shock absorbers, springs, top mounts and bearings
- Lower suspension arms
- Anti\-roll bar bushes
- Front brake calipers and flexi hoses
- Front brake discs and pads
- Front wheel bearings
- Driveshafts
- Lower engine mount
- Gearbox oil
- Brake fluid (at least twice)
- Rear brake shoes and cylinders
- Auxiliary belt, pulley and tensioner
- Cambelt kit including water pump (2 years ago)
- Coolant flush
- Radiator and lower radiator hose
- All four tyres – matching set of GT Radials
- Glow plugs
- Steering rack boots

In addition to the above, I have changed the engine oil every 5–6, 000 miles and replaced other service items as required. I fitted the side windows shortly after buying it. They massively improve visibility at junctions.

The van passed its MOT on 29/ 07/ 26, with the only advisory being “offside sill starting to corrode” – the same advisory it has received for the past three years. Looking back through my pictures, I cannot see any noticeable change in this area.

The MOT was its first outing in several months, as the van has been kept in my double garage while I carried out some the work listed above and gave it some attention.

I removed the windscreen to treat some rust at the lower left corner. A mobile welder cut out a small section and welded in fresh metal - pictures available. I subsequently painted the area and refitted the windscreen with a new rubber seal. He also cut out a couple of very small areas of corrosion on the lower edge of the bonnet, which have since been painted and are now covered by the bonnet trim\. The rest of the bodywork is very straight and the paintwork is nice and bright. There is some lacquer peel to the top of the OSR barn door and a couple of very small areas elsewhere. The roof, bonnet and OSR panel were resprayed by the previous owner due to lacquer peel.

No structural welding has been required during my ownership.

The interior is very clean and tidy. The seats are in excellent condition with no stains, significant wear or holes. It’s never been smoked in and there are no nasty smells. The carpets are clean and come with a set of rubber mats. The load area is also very clean, with only a few marks commensurate with age. I have recently replaced all of the soundproofing material in the cab with new stuff made by Dodo mat.

It retains the original Blaupunkt radio/ cassette player and the tax disc holder from the supplying dealer, Citroën – London West.

The 1868 DW8 diesel engine is a little peach and very economical. I’ve never seen less than 50 mpg, even with the roof rack fitted. It’s actually quite nippy given how little it weighs. The clutch is lovely and light. There is no power steering, but with skinny little 155\-section tyres it’s really not a chore.

I’ve also sprayed Bilt Hamber anti\-corrosion wax into both sills and the large void beneath the windscreen to help protect these areas from further corrosion.

The doors and bonnet are original and in good condition\.

So why am I selling?

Life is short, and there are many more Citroëns I’d like to own. The C15 has been replaced by an early Berlingo Multispace with the same engine.

I’ve owned around 50 cars since passing my test, and I’ve kept the C15 longer than any other. It’s just so good at everything! I genuinely think you’ll struggle to find a cleaner and more genuine example. There are at least two keys, possibly three. The roof rack is NOT included.

I welcome questions and viewings. £3000 ono
