Description
For sale is my backdate 1275 Mini Cooper tribute. Based on a 1993 Sprite, this car has had a no expense spared restoration with receipts totalling over 12, 000 pounds. Works carried out are as follows;
Body
resprayed in Iris blue with an old English white roof. All rust removed with new sills and rear subframe fitted as well as a properly fitted safety devices roll cage (removable if preferred without). Early ‘moustache’ style grille fitted as well as spotlights. The 1967 number plate was purchased and registered to the car from the dvla and will be included in the sale.
Engine/ suspension
Finding these 1275 variants is becoming increasingly difficult. This car has only covered a genuine 48 428 miles from new and drives beautifully. The hif38 carb has been rebuilt as has the top end. A new clutch was also fitted around 2000 miles ago when this work was completed. I have fitted the excellent hawthorn mini works twintake air box with a k&n filter and had the car tuned by AC Dodd who fitted new viper iridium spark plugs and power spark leads. The car pulls cleanly and smoothly all the way up the rev range and is a joy to drive. It also sounds great thanks to the very rare peco centre exit exhaust.
I completed a 10 inch brake conversion, and had a mini spares hi-lo kit fitted. The car also has gas adjustable KYB shocks all round, and rides on rare 10x5 Contesa wheels wrapped in Yokohama rubber. It handles like a dream.
Interior
A 3 gauge cluster with cream colour clocks was fitted during the restoration which compliment the iris blue perfectly. I have also fitted genuine Corbeau bucket seats (original seats included) and fitted a period correct 3 spoke mountney steering wheel, as well as an s-can 3D gear nob.
I have driven this car home from Reading, to Goodwood and back from Essex and covered over 2000 miles this summer and it hasn’t missed a beat. As you can see, it wants for nothing and has had thousands spent on it to bring it up to the standard it is today. You simply couldn’t build the car for the money I’m asking, so grad yourself a superb classic Mini whilst you can!
