Description
Ford ****** Mk1
Genuine RS 1600 / Cosworth BDA).
Factory-right-hand drive.
Converted to Group 4 in 2007 by David Sutton (Historic Motorsport Ltd.) who built the factory ****** s.
Car with all the hallmarks of works rally cars.
When it runs in Group 4, power increases markedly to more than double the 1600RS. Displacement is then 1840 cc. In the case of our car, dyno power is 256 bhp at 8, 000 rpm. And the maximum torque is 24 m. Kg at 6, 500 rpm. At 3, 500 rpm, torque is already 18 m. Kg.
Of course, the lubrication is dry sump.
The gearbox is a ZF (S5-18-3) with 5 speeds, which has nothing to do with the Ford box.
The AR axle is no longer the Salisbury but the big Atlas axle with reinforcing tie-rods and Watt linkage and a self-locking differential.
The bodyshell is fully strengthened. The RS 1600 originally had a Type 49 bodyshell built by AVO (Advanced Vehicles Operations of Ford).
Braking is discs with AP callipers.
The wheels are 15-inch Minilite alloys.
Specifically commissioned by Stig Blomqvist, World Rally Champion. At his request, it was converted to left-hand drive.
Blomqvist used it at the 2008 Robin Hood Historic Stages (see photos and attached document).
In a private collection since 2010 where it has been meticulously maintained.
The car is in excellent condition and ready to be used. Its PTH is currently expired but can be renewed.
It retains its original UK registration, with which Blomqvist drove it, but it was exported from the United Kingdom well before Brexit, so there is no tax to pay.
