Description
Plethore is pleased to offer this magnificent 1956 Corvette C1!
A rare example, restored with care. First registered on 1 January 1956, this Corvette C1 is among the 3, 467 produced that year. It is distinguished by its original Venetian Red colour paired with a beige soft-top, factory specification and particularly sought-after (only 431 vehicles delivered in this combination).
This American icon has undergone a complete restoration, carried out to the highest standards:
• Bodywork stripped and repainted, chrome entirely redone.
• Upholstery and trim completely redone in red leather, new carpeting, dashboard restored.
• Beige canvas manual hood in very good working order.
• Underbody and chassis treated against corrosion, suspension and running gear overhauled.
Inside, the red and beige presentation perfectly returns to the original spirit. All instruments are functional. Mechanically, the car is equipped with a V8 with twin carburettors, not strictly original but period-correct and offering increased power. The engine bay is clean, with no leaks or visible corrosion.
Road test confirms sound handling: easy start, smooth acceleration, effective braking, gears shifting without difficulty.
Produced in St. Louis, Missouri (USA), this Corvette has been fully restored in France and now presents in a remarkable condition of appearance and operation. An independent appraisal report from 2019 attests to the quality of the restoration and the overall condition of the vehicle.
