Description

This 1954 Austin-Healey 100 ‘S’ is an exceptional and unique car, with an extraordinary endurance and speed record history that makes it a rare gem for a collector or historic racing driver.

In August 1954, Donald Healey entered an Austin-Healey 100 in a records programme at the Bonneville Salt Flats (USA). The aim was to set as many international speed records as possible, and it was a resounding success: the British team set 83 national and international records, including an average of 132. 29 mph over 24 hours and numerous distance records from 200 km to 5000 km. This car essentially represented the prototype of the forthcoming production 100S, incorporating modifications developed specifically for endurance performance.

The original chassis used in 1954 (SPL 227B) was sadly destroyed by the harsh salt conditions, but a group of Healey endurance enthusiasts undertook a faithful rebuild of this historic car. From the last factory-enhanced 100S chassis, Denis Welch Motorsport began its reconstruction in 2007, based on original drawings, period parts and careful archival research, to obtain a replica faithful to the original, save for a few necessary safety refinements.

This car did not quietly retire after its exploits. It continued an illustrious racing career, taking part in numerous historic series such as The Woodcote Trophy, AMOC and FICAR, with frequent podiums and a overall victory in the 2014 Castle Combe edition of the ‘all Healey’ race. Fully maintained by Denis Welch Motorsport without compromise, this Austin-Healey is a historic racing car capable of competing with cars worth many times more.

Moreover, this 100 ‘S’ possesses unique technical characteristics:
Centre-lock Dunlop wheels,
Four-wheel disc brakes,
High-performance 100S engine,
which makes it an especially capable and truly unique example among all the Austin-Healey models produced.

Key highlights for historic events:

This Austin-Healey 100’s is perfectly eligible for Gentleman Driver events as well as the prestigious Mille Miglia, offering its future owner the opportunity to participate in the world’s leading historic competitions.
It is ideal for Le Mans Classic – Plate 2, with real podium potential on this iconic stage.
The Historic Technical Passport (PTH) is valid, ensuring regulatory compliance, and the car is ready to run immediately, with no extra preparation required.
