Engine and body refurbishment prior to current ownership
Stored indoors and driven only on dry summer days
In current ownership for five years
The Appeal
By the 1960s, the Beetle had become one of ultimate motoring icons. The Wolfsburg factory could accommodate 100,000 cars at a time, and produced upwards of 5,000 of them per day. It was a full-on pop-culture juggernaut, and it's undeniably this era of the 'bug' that the world is most familiar with.
This modified, handsome example is something to write home about. Its 1,776cc engine, built from a 1,600cc block with oversized pistons, twin Dellorto carburettors, ported and polished heads and a stainless steel Vintage Speed exhaust, makes for quite the performance build. The running gear has been similarly upgraded with front disc brakes, Koni shock absorbers all round and Porsche 912 steel wheels.
Purchased five years ago from the builder who carried out the engine and body refurbishment, this Beetle has since been stored in a secure indoor unit and driven only on dry summer days. The vendor describes it as a unique 'one off' that drives like a dream and sounds fantastic - and its appearance in Volksworld magazine suggests the wider air-cooled community agrees!0-97.webp154.1 KB
