RWN 911G is an exceptionally quick V8 MGB. The GT was fully rebuilt by California Classics Hull Limited using a heritage bodyshell and a 3. 9L V8 engine. The project took more than a year and the basic rebuild was completed in June 2011. Since then, the careful custodians of the car have continued to improve and maintain it to a very high standard. The B GT now presents in outstanding aesthetic and mechanical condition, boasting an exceptional fast touring car specification. The long-term recent owner tells us around £60, 000 has gone into the project.
With drivability at the forefront of subsequent upgrades, this car received a Vitesse 5-speed gearbox conversion in 2013 along with a new 3. 07:1 ratio rear axle at a cost of £5, 300, the work carried out by Vitesse Global at Hinkley. While the handling on a standard MG B is sufficient for most spirited drives, RWN 911G was uprated by Frontline Developments at a cost of £8, 700 making it superbly agile through bends. A dynamometer report shows an impressive 207. 5 bhp at 5036 rpm, 187. 1bhp at the wheels (4800rpm) and maximum torque of 246. 6lb/ ft at 3509rpm. Quite a machine! A further upgrade to the suspension, featuring a torque reaction bar and uprated springs and dampers with new mounting brackets was carried out in 2017 - a £2142 upgrade. It is a breathtakingly quick driver, with an acceleration more like a TVR than an MGB! At the national speed limit, the GT V8 coasts along at a relaxed 2, 000rpm. It is a superb all-rounder, blisteringly quick when needed, but perfectly capable of relaxed long-distance touring. It is a unique example in our experience.
