The Appeal
The 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 represents the final and most refined iteration of the celebrated "Big Healey." As a Phase II variant, it benefits from re-profiled rear chassis rails and radius arms in place of the earlier Panhard rod, while its 2,912cc inline-six with twin SU carburetors and overdrive-equipped four-speed gearbox made it the most capable and comfortable of the line. Few British roadsters command the same reverence.
This red example with black soft-top and black vinyl interior with yellow piping was purchased in January 2025 by its late owner Don, for whom it represented the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. It was the last car he bought, and it was cherished accordingly, stored under dust sheets in a dedicated, dehumidified workshop. The vendor states the car was kept to a high standard both mechanically and cosmetically.
A supporting history file accompanies the car, including invoices for carburettor rebuild work by Cambrian Classics Ltd, king pin and trunnion replacement parts from AH Spares Ltd, and routine servicing by Station Garage. Now eligible for MOT exemption, this Big Healey offers a straightforward route to continued enjoyment for its next custodian.
