The Appeal

The GT6 was hailed when new as a ‘Mini E-Type,’ yet despite its 2L straight six, it wasn’t perhaps as quick as it could be. This car fixes that because beneath the sculptural Le Mans-style bonnet lies the 2.5L fuel-injected straight-six powerhouse from the brawny TR6. A dyno test shows it’s good for 170bhp. 
Naturally, the rest of the car has been brought up to spec to meet the power hike. There’s a five-speed Ford gearbox, Quaife LSD and uprated anti-roll bar for starters. Inside you’ll find figure-hugging bucket seats, neatly trimmed in cream, a bespoke dashboard with suede top, electric windows and a roll cage. 
Finished in dark blue, this is one potent little car. It is in good, usable condition and appears to have covered few miles since the conversion was completed. The vendor acquired the car in 2008 and has overseen the work. 
This GT6 fulfils the potential of Triumph’s tiny sports car. If you enjoy classic thrills, it feels guaranteed to deliver.
