The Appeal
In November 1940, the Luftwaffe flew over Coventry and wrought destruction - especially to the Alvis factory. Ironically, the German planes completely missed the armaments factory, but obliterated the automotive lines. It wasn't until 1946 that the marque was back into production, and introduced this - the TA14.
The first post-war Alvis may have had a distinctly pre-war outline, like many manufacturers' output during this period, but it was packed with innovation for the brave new world it was entering, and quickly proved itself a very capable car. It sold over 3,300 over its lifetime, which in a recovering, austerity-led market, was pretty impressive.
This example is something special. The current owner has focused on practical improvements including electric power steering, an alternator upgrade, and the addition of a J-type overdrive to keep it more potent and capable on the road. The result is an eminently drivable post-war classic - not to be missed.
