Due to post-war restrictions and austerity, the early MG sports cars retained a very traditional aesthetic, with a grille and lines directly inspired by pre-war models. This characteristic silhouette largely contributed to their success abroad, where these little British roadsters embodied both charm, elegance and a certain idea of motoring pleasure.
 
The MG TD carries over the 1,250cc XPAG four-cylinder engine from the TC, developing around 54 bhp. However, it benefits from a thoroughly modernised chassis, notably featuring independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. It thus proves more comfortable and easier to drive than its predecessor, whilst retaining the character of a genuine little sports car.
 
This 1950 example, presented in an elegant ivory livery with red leather interior, has been in the hands of its current owner since 2007, having been acquired as a passion purchase. Since then, it has benefited from regular servicing and several mechanical interventions, whilst its interior has been renovated.
 
Relatively rare on the European market, this lovely British roadster combines an appealing presentation with well-maintained mechanicals. It should therefore appeal to enthusiasts of immediate post-war British sports cars.
