The Appeal
The advent of the BN4 marked a significant leap forward for the Austin Healey. This was to be the first model with a six-cylinder engine, and the first to have occasional rear seats, afforded by a wheelbase increase of two inches versus the outgoing BN2.
This 1957 example is described by the vendor as original and never messed about with. Finished in matt red with a red leather interior, it sits on the rarer solid steel wheels, a less commonly seen specification that sets it apart from the wire-wheeled cars more often encountered. We also like the fact that it is one solid colour, distinguishing it from the more common two-tone schemes. Mechanically, this 100/6 has benefited from considerable attention in recent years, and the vendor reports that it runs and drives sweetly.
A mere glance at the car's underside, which we've photographed in detail, reveals this to be a very well-kept example. The engine compartment is similarly smart - not the usual oily mess found under the bonnet of so many older classics. The cabin and exterior both present exceedingly well, with a gentle patina of use befitting the car's considerable age.
With a voluntary advisory-free MOT valid until September 2026 for peace of mind, this is a Big Healey ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian.image.png1.53 MB
