The Appeal
Introduced shortly after the end of World War II, the ‘Auntie’ Rovers brought the British brand into the modern era and quickly became an integral part of British culture while finding celebrity buyers in many other countries. The model featured a large trunk, a well-trimmed and spacious cabin and distinctive ‘suicide’ rear-hinged front doors, and evolved over a 14-year production run to add more power and updated features. The 100 represents a later development of the P4, with a 2.6-liter six-cylinder engine that could propel it to 100 mph, an overdrive gearbox and Girling disc brakes up front.
The seller purchased this charming car in 2020, since when they have undertaken a ‘rolling restoration’. The exterior wears its two-tone cream-over-dark gray paint very well, and the rear bumper and overriders have recently been re-chromed. The delightful and luxurious interior is highly original, with the blue leather seats and door panels recently reconnolized, and the wooden dashboard and door window surrounds complete. The seller reports that all instruments and switches are in working order.
The underside is extremely clean and well-presented, and the seller reports that the car is "running well". It benefits from a recent service, and the seller states that the front suspension, brakes and radiator have all been rebuilt or reconditioned.
The car’s appearance in an article in the Rover P4 Drivers Guild magazine is a testament to its originality and the quality of the work undertaken on it. This fine example of a much-loved Rover is ready to be enjoyed and admired right away.
