The Appeal
Amédée Gordini turned Renault's rather austere Dauphine and reformed it into a very handsome little sports Sedan. This was already a car rightfully praised as one of the prettiest four-seaters on the market, and thanks to its compact proportions, could weave through Parisian streets beautifully - so boosting its horsepower and making it all the perkier was a guaranteed hit.
This 1966 example underwent a substantial restoration around 2018, during which NOS body panels were employed. The bodyshell is believed to be of Australian origin and was first registered in the UK in 2004. Since the rebuild, the car has covered only approximately 1,000 miles, around 600 of which have been added by the current owner since purchasing the car earlier this year. It has been resprayed in green, departing from its original red, though the original red and grey interior has been retained. It's certainly a very striking livery!
On the mechanical side, the restoration introduced a number of modifications, including a modern radiator and electric fan, a Renault 8 gearbox, and a manual choke in place of the original automatic unit. The engine is reported to start and run well, and the car has completed three round trips of over 100 miles this year with no issues. A deeply usable, sporty classic that's bound to turn heads. image.png1.22 MB
