The Appeal
The Spitfire was many classic enthusiasts’ introduction to the world of four wheeled motoring beyond the regular 60s and 70s saloon-car porridge. As such they have a special, nostalgic place in hearts.
Here is a chance to revisit your youth and indulge that nostalgia. This 1970 Spitfire is one of the later Mk3 models, the final version to retain the original sculptural Michelotti styling but which gained the larger 1.3L Standard-Triumph engine.
The vendor acquired this car in 2003, it was dry stored prior to his ownership and also since he acquired it. It is sold as a project and appears to be largely complete. The registration plate has been independently valued at £1,500 to £2,000 but this is not verified.
For the restorer, Spitfire parts are generally widely available at reasonable prices, plus there is an army of owners and specialists available to help with advice and support. This car deserves to return to the road - could this be your next project?

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
