The Appeal
With the Ministry of Defence recently announcing it will be retiring the last of its hard-working Land Rovers, it seems an apt time to look back at some of the vehicles that have served in the military over the years. With reported ex-MOD provenance and an odometer reading in kilometres, this 1971-built Series IIA, first road registered in 1978, carries an authentic military character that is increasingly sought after.
In current ownership since late 2019, this Series IIA has been used regularly and maintained with annual servicing throughout. It was repainted in Matte NATO Green in 2024 and fitted with a brand new Khaki green roof with windows by AWT Trim, giving it a smart and purposeful appearance. Mechanically, it has received considerable recent attention, with work carried out on the engine, brakes, and clutch as outlined below. Equipped with overdrive and front parabolic springs, with a set of rear parabolic springs included for the new owner, this is a well-sorted and usable classic Land Rover. The vendor describes it as an amazing car and states the engine has never given any problems.
