The Appeal
If a big part of our fabulous classic car scene is the nostalgia that certain cars evoke for us, then few motors deliver that quite like Abingdon’s minute Midget. For many enthusiasts, the little MG was their first taste of motoring, a two-seat maker of memories.
Whether you’re here for the memories or because you just love a pretty British sports car, this ‘71 Midget definitely delivers. It is beautifully presented in Midnight Blue, a colour that accentuates the chrome wires and rear luggage rack and complements the two-tone red and black interior. It is all very tastefully done and is the result of an expensive 2000 restoration that included a new Heritage shell.
During the car’s rebirth, it was fitted with a new Gold Seal engine and gearbox. Despite covering a few miles in the intervening years, in 2020 it was fitted with a new clutch, and the suspension and brakes were overhauled. New Blockley tyres were fitted in 2025. The impressive history file documents all this work.
Few classics are as easy to own and as simply rewarding as a good Midget. This attractive car is exactly that.
The vendor says:
“Great fun to drive. The chrome work really stands out against the Blue paintwork. Well sorted and looked after MG with peace of mind it has had a replacement body shell which today would be a very costly exercise!”
